KDSG Vlisco Textile Park To Create 20,000 Jobs

Over the last few days, the Kaduna State Delegation has taken time to visit textile companies and factories at Qingdao, Shandon Province to further discussions on the KDSG-Vlisco textile park.

Shandong Province is well known as a major textile hub in China. It has a population of 100m with over 20% ( a whopping 20m people) of the population engaged in jobs along the CTG value chain. They produce garments for major outlets like Gap, The North Face, Forever21 and more.

KDSG has made available about 400ha within the Green Agro Allied Industrial Zone (GAAIZ) along the Abuja-Kaduna express way, where Olam is situated, for the project. The operations shall cover spinning, weaving, printing and garmenting creating 20,000 jobs in the process.

This is a video taken In one of the factories where grey cloth is produced and imported specially for Vlisco to print the Super Wax and other related end products.

This video here showcases the garmenting aspect of the value chain where clothes are produced for high street retailers. This particular garmenting factory employs 12,000 workers per shift.

Apart from our discussions surrounding the CTG sector, we have also concluded arrangements with many more companies in the area of Waste Management, Construction of a 5 Star Hotel and Shopping Mall, Ring Road 3 Project and a White Goods Assembly Plant (electronics).

We shall also leverage on the CBN's Anchor Borrower Programme to ensure that cotton farmers across 5 northern states are adequate|y supported with loans, quality seeds and extension services to supply up to 500,000 MT of cotton to the textile park. #lnvestinKaduna
